Kyoto #47: 岩清水八幡宮【Iwashimizu Hachiman-gu】

The gorgeous and mysterious
Iwashimizu Hachiman-gu in Kyoto

Ride the cablecar to another world “Iwashimizu Hachiman-gu”. People usually ride it to get to the main shrine, which is just 3 minutes riding but you can enjoy the view of the trees and town along the track from the train window and enjoy the autumn leaves.

Iwashimizu Hachiman-gu

The unique structure of the main shrine and its historical value were recognized, and in February 2016 it was designated as a national treasure. It is also known as a shrine which is worth going among a number of historical places in Kyoto, so many worshipers visit throughout the year.

New, Short, Great Cablecar…
There are two ways to worship, the first way is to use a cable car (approximately 3 minutes), which allows you to climb at a stretch from Yawataichi Station. The other is simply walking! I recommend to ride on cablecars because poeple can see wonderful sceneries!!

Two cablecars called “Akane” and “Kogane”

Why are you there Thomas Edison…
Edison, who had been trial and error in developing a long-lasting light bulb, made filament from bamboo. The monument has been set up on the grounds since the bamboo was the only bamboo around Otokoyama in Yawata City.

What a Outstanding Shrine…
Needless to say, the exterior is awesome, and also if you have much time, you should go inside. The priest can guide you inside and people hear about the highlights and history of the shrine, and the sculptures inside are very beautiful.

Great scenery of Kyoto…

Lastly…
This time, we have introduced Iwashimizu Hachiman-guin Kyoto. You can enjoy both the Main shrine and Cablecars, Scenery from the top of the mountain. I hope you enjoy there as much as I do.
