Kyoto #13: 竹林の小径【Bamboo Grove】

Bamboo Grove in Kyoto.

Arashiyama, Kyoto’s leading tourist destination. It is designated as a national historic site and a scenic spot, and it has all the Kyoto-like attractions such as Togetsu-kyo bridge and Bamboo Grove. Bamboo Grove is a typical sightseeing spot in Kyoto and is a symbol of Arashiyama which is also famous and popular place around there.

Bamboo is said to be the most beautiful in the autumn, and has been selected as one of the “100 Best Sakura Places in Japan”. In early winter, Arashiyama Chochin Road is held where both sides of the bamboo grove are lit up. Bamboo groves in the night that flicker in the light are a new feature of autumn Kyoto.

Bamboo grove last kinda road between Nonoiya Shrine and  the north side of Tenryu-Ji, numerous bamboo seem so high enough to cover the sky! It’s said that it was a place for the villa in the Heian period, but even after 1000 years from the Heian period, such as beautiful and stunning view still take us to the mysterious world.

In addition, sunlight filters through the trees are so comfortable on a clear day in your eyes, which are expressed such as the word “木漏れ日【Komorebi】” in Japanese.  Komorebi means the sunlight shining through the leaves of trees, creating a sort of dance between the light and the leaves. This time, we have introduced bamboo grove in Arashiyama, Kyoto. When you come to Kyoto, you should visit there to feel refresh. You can know how beautiful there are there. And you’ll be addicted to it definitely.
